CHESAPEAKE, VA - SCI is proud to deliver a first of kind mobile calibration training trailer to Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII. This state-of-the-art and climate-controlled laboratory is affectionately named the “SNAIL” or Shipyard, Naval, Auxiliary, Instrumentation, Lab. Housed within the lab is a fluid based control loop containing advanced sensor technologies utilized in Ford Class aircraft carrier applications. This modern PLC based trainer allows HII to provide complex hands-on training to employees and Navy operators alike. The lab was designed to incorporate future expansion options and be capable of supporting research and development of sensor technology.
SCI has provided 1000’s of first in class mil qualified sensors for pressure, temperature, liquid/air flow and level for the Ford aircraft carrier program. From years of testing and qualifying various sensor technologies SCI has become the authority when critical measurements are required. As new technologies evolve, SCI will continue to work with HII and the Navy to implement new technology fully supported with hands on training opportunities such as the SNAIL.
From our ISO-17025 accredited calibration labs to our NAVSEA certified clean rooms, When “Every Measurement Matters” you can count on SCI to support complex requirements from demanding customers.
